Beijing: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Monday met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing, where the two leaders discussed regional cooperation and the status of India-China relations. The meeting comes as part of Jaishankar’s official visit to China amid efforts by both nations to stabilise ties strained in recent years.

In a post shared on social media platform X, Jaishankar said, “Conveyed India’s support for China’s SCO Presidency. Noted the improvement in our bilateral ties. And expressed confidence that discussions during my visit will maintain that positive trajectory.”

India and China have continued diplomatic engagements through multiple channels following the military standoff in eastern Ladakh since 2020. While border tensions remain an issue, both countries have pushed to maintain dialogue in multilateral forums such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS.
