New Delhi: Danish Ambassador to India, Rasmus AK, has reaffirmed his country’s support for a rules-based international order that prioritises fairness over coercion in global diplomacy. He stated that the European approach is to engage with partners, including India, on terms that deliver mutual benefit rather than using economic or political leverage to force compliance.
The envoy explained that the EU seeks to avoid scenarios where larger or more powerful nations dictate terms to smaller countries. Instead, he highlighted the importance of negotiations conducted in good faith, where both sides work toward agreements that serve shared interests. According to him, this approach reflects Europe’s long-standing diplomatic philosophy of partnership and mutual respect.
He noted that while the EU pursues its policy objectives, it remains committed to ensuring that agreements do not compel a country to take steps against its own interests. The ambassador added that constructive engagement and respect for sovereignty form the core of the EU’s relations with India, particularly in trade, technology, and climate cooperation.
