New Delhi: Danish Ambassador to India, Rasmus AK, has drawn a comparison between India’s reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack and Europe’s response to Russia’s ongoing military actions in Ukraine. Speaking on the European Union’s perspective, he highlighted shared concerns over national security and the importance of unified international action in such crises.
Referring to the 2022 Pahalgam incident, the envoy noted that India sought support from several nations in the aftermath, viewing the attack as an existential challenge due to potential links with external actors. He said this mirrors Europe’s security concerns following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, where questions arise over the sovereignty of nations and the risk to neighbouring countries if military aggression goes unchecked.
The ambassador reiterated the EU’s stance that Russia should face continued sanctions for its actions in Ukraine, and expressed concern over the flow of goods that could sustain the Russian war economy from other countries. He likened this expectation to India’s call for international backing and preventive measures following the Pahalgam attack.
