Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh: The 90th birthday celebrations of the 14th Dalai Lama drew global attention and reverence, with Hollywood actor and long-time Buddhist practitioner Richard Gere among the prominent figures attending the event in Dharamshala. Speaking at the gathering, Gere paid an emotional tribute to the Tibetan spiritual leader, describing him as a figure whose influence transcends geography, culture, and time.

“We have never seen a human being like him who completely embodies selflessness, love, and wisdom,” Gere said, acknowledging the Dalai Lama’s decades-long global advocacy for peace, compassion, and non-violence.

The actor recalled a significant moment during a religious conference where His Holiness announced his intention to continue the institution of the Dalai Lama. “Many lamas openly declared that the Dalai Lama no longer just belongs to Tibet, but to the world and the universe,” he noted, highlighting the spiritual leader’s universal relevance.

Gere concluded by reflecting on the Dalai Lama’s timeless presence: “His Holiness exists beyond any concept of time and space.”
