On November 14, 2024, Consul General Xu Wei attended the 2024 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in Bihar to support the Chinese women’s hockey team. Held at the Bihar Sports University in Rajgir, the tournament featured teams from six nations, including China, India, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia.
During the match against Japan, the Chinese team triumphed 2-1 after a 1-1 tie. Following the victory, Xu Wei presented the Most Valuable Player award to Miss Wang Lihang, praising the team for their excellent skills, morale, and determination. Xu extended best wishes for their continued success in the competition.
The Consul General also engaged in discussions with Shri Raveendran Sankaran, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority, and Commander R. K. Srivastava, Executive Director of Hockey India, emphasizing the potential for China-India collaboration in sports development.
On November 15-16, Xu Wei visited Jharkhand to explore economic and trade opportunities and inspect Chinese-invested projects. He met with Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FJCCI) leaders, including President Paresh Gattani, Vice President Jyoti Kumari, Secretary General Aditya Malhotra, and Joint Secretary Vikash Vijaywargia. Xu underscored the strategic significance of China and India as neighboring economic powerhouses and highlighted Jharkhand’s resources in minerals, agriculture, and forestry. Gattani welcomed the dialogue and expressed interest in expanding trade ties.
On November 16, Xu traveled to Chaibasa to inspect the integrated steel plant project constructed by Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) for Rungta Mines Limited (RML). He interacted with Chinese technicians and Indian managers, lauding their cooperation. Xu emphasized safety, quality, and fostering a strong image of Chinese enterprises abroad.
