Davos, Switzerland: Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, expressed optimism about the future of India's food processing sector during his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos. Speaking on India's global ambitions, Paswan shared his confidence in the government's vision to position India as the "global food basket."
“I’m looking forward to good collaborations globally because I think the vision of my Prime Minister is very clear when it comes to the food processing industry that eventually my government wants India to become the global food basket and we have that abundance, we are capable of providing that support globally,” Paswan said. His remarks highlighted India's potential to cater to the global demand for food and strengthen its position as a key player in the industry.
Paswan emphasized the importance of international engagement during his visit, noting that his ministry is holding several meetings with key industry players. “We are having a number of meetings with some major players in the industry, and one thing that I am proud of is the fact that everybody is looking forward to India. They are not only looking at India as a market but also in terms of investments, in terms of building up the whole ecosystem there,” he added.
With growing interest in India as both a market and investment destination, Paswan expressed hope that these interactions would yield positive results. “I am very positive that by the end of this trip, we will have some good investments coming in this sector,” he said, underscoring the strategic importance of food processing to India’s economic growth.
