Delhi: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during a meeting with India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, underscored the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. He said the Chinese side attached great significance to the visit and anticipated that India’s participation would contribute to the success of the event in Tianjin.
Wang, speaking through an interpreter, stated that both history and present circumstances demonstrated the value of a healthy and stable relationship between India and China. He argued that such ties were not only in the long-term interests of the two countries but also aligned with the expectations of developing nations worldwide.
The discussions come at a time when both sides are marking the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic engagement, with emphasis on dialogue and cooperation despite continuing challenges, including unresolved border issues. The meeting between Wang and Doval included exchanges on bilateral relations, strategic communication, and preparations for the forthcoming summit.
