Beijing: China has announced that it will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, extending an official welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the event. The announcement was made by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, who outlined Beijing’s expectations for the meeting.
Guo said China anticipates that, with the joint efforts of all member nations, the Tianjin summit will serve as a platform for solidarity, friendship, and practical outcomes. He added that the gathering is expected to mark a new stage in the SCO’s development, characterised by enhanced unity, coordination, and dynamism.
The SCO, comprising China, India, Russia, Pakistan, and several Central Asian nations, focuses on political, economic, and security cooperation across the region. The upcoming summit will provide an opportunity for leaders to discuss regional stability, economic integration, and strategies for collaborative growth.
