China has expressed concern over rising hostilities between India and Pakistan following India’s targeted military strikes under “Operation Sindoor,” urging both nuclear-armed nations to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation.
In a statement issued Wednesday by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beijing said it “regrets” India’s military actions and stressed the need for regional peace and stability. “China expresses regret over India’s military actions this morning and is concerned about the current developments. China opposes all forms of terrorism. We call on both India and Pakistan to prioritize peace and stability, remain calm and restrained, and avoid taking actions that further complicate the situation,” the statement read.

The reaction came just hours after Indian armed forces carried out coordinated missile strikes on nine sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, targeting what it described as terror infrastructure linked to groups like Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The strikes were conducted in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians—most of them tourists.
“India and Pakistan are and will always be each other’s neighbors. They’re both China’s neighbors as well,” the statement added, subtly emphasizing Beijing’s stake in regional stability
