Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a significant meeting with CEOs and leaders of South Korea’s automobile ancillary firms during his visit to Seoul, South Korea. The meeting focused on attracting investment and positioning Assam as a hub for automobile manufacturing.

In a tweet following the discussions, CM Sarma said, "I have offered them the unstinted support of our State, should they choose to build a base in Assam. With easy access to India’s $100 billion auto industry and that of Southeast Asia, Assam offers them unparalleled advantages."

The Chief Minister emphasized Assam's strategic location and potential to become a critical link between India and Southeast Asia, highlighting the immense opportunities for growth in the automobile sector. He expressed his belief that fostering an automobile manufacturing ecosystem in Assam could lead to transformative socio-economic changes for the entire North East region.

"I am of the firm belief that if Assam can house an automobile manufacturing ecosystem, we could transform the socio-economic landscape of the North East," CM Sarma added.

The state government is aggressively pursuing foreign investment to boost economic growth, with a focus on creating industrial ecosystems. This move aligns with the broader "Act East Policy" of the Indian government, which seeks to strengthen economic ties with Southeast Asia and establish the North East as a gateway to the region.
