National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval held a high-level meeting with his US counterpart, Jake Sullivan, in New Delhi on January 6, 2025. The meeting provided a platform to review ongoing progress in key areas of the India-US strategic partnership, including defense, cyber, and maritime security.
One of the major highlights of the discussion was the briefing provided by Sullivan on updates to U.S. missile export control policies under the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). These updates, introduced by the Biden administration, aim to strengthen US commercial space cooperation with India, reflecting growing trust and collaboration between the two nations in advanced technology sectors.
The two sides also delved into civil nuclear cooperation, emphasizing their shared commitment to peaceful nuclear technologies and resilient clean energy supply chains. Sullivan announced that the US is actively working to finalize steps necessary to delist certain Indian nuclear entities. This move is expected to further promote civil nuclear cooperation and pave the way for enhanced partnerships in the clean energy sector.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) welcomed these developments, noting that they highlight the steady progress India and the US have made as strategic partners. Both NSAs reiterated their commitment to deepening bilateral ties in line with the vision of both nations' leadership for a robust and secure Indo-Pacific region.
