ANM News sources indicated that many of the AL serving parliamentarians fear that they might not be renominated as their performances are way below the ``mark and have been identified with intense corrupt practices." An internal survey carried out by AL, accessed in parts by ANM News, revealed that some of the leaders have become hugely unpopular and are a burden to the party.
Highly placed AL sources told ANM News, more than 80 such leaders have been identified and are likely to be dropped. Although there is a general perception in Bangladesh political circles that elections are won with India's support, the Indian foreign ministry has constantly denied any role and have clearly mentioned that ``Bangladesh is an independent country and elections are an internal part of their democracy.''
