8 injured in firing by security guards in Colombo

Eight of the injured have been admitted to Colombo National Hospital. Giving details of the incident, police said a security guard opened fire at a road construction site on the expressway. Tension prevailed on Blumenthal Street when a group of men tried to stop two men who had come to steal iron from the road development site. According to the latest information in the investigation, a security guard at the scene opened fire on the crowd while trying to snatch a firearm from another security guard. Foreshore police are investigating.
