BY A STAFF REPORTER: At least 48 people were killed when a truck lost control and rammed into other vehicles and pedestrians at a busy junction in western Kenya.
"So far we have confirmed 48 deaths and we suspect that one or two are still trapped under the truck," local police commander Geoffrey Mayek said after the crash on the highway between Keriko and Nakuru towns on Friday night. Thirty people were seriously injured and admitted to various hospitals. Heavy rains are hampering rescue operations. "
