1 killed in Belgorod shelling

BY A STAFF REPORTER: One person was killed and several others wounded in shelling in the town of Shebekino in Russia's Belgorod region, the region's governor said.

Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said it was a "difficult day" and there was "a lot of shelling."

Gladkov noted that in recent days the Belgorod region has suffered "a great deal of damage as a result of several hours of shelling" that has resulted in power, phone connections, heat and water cuts in many areas, which have now been restored.
