1 killed in armed attack on church in Istanbul

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said two masked gunmen attacked a church in Istanbul on Sunday, killing one person. Several others were reportedly injured at the Santa Maria church.

The victim was a 72-year-old woman.

Yerlikaya said that "a large-scale investigation" had been launched, as well as efforts to arrest the attackers.

In a tweet, he said, "We strongly condemn this heinous attack.
