Father's Day Celebration: 1 killed, 9 injured in shooting

BY A STAFF REPORTER: St. Louis: At least one teenager was killed and nine others were injured sunday when gunmen opened fire in downtown St. Louis, authorities said. The shooting took place in a building where the party was taking place shortly after 1 a.m. local time.

Mayor Tishaura Jones said a 17-year-old boy was killed in the shooting.

Police Chief Robert Tracy said a 17-year-old suspect has been taken into custody. '

"My thoughts are with the families who are suffering today," Jones said. The injured ranged in age from 15 to 19. A 17-year-old woman who fled the scene was also trampled and suffered severe spinal cord injuries. ' 

Police recovered several firearms, including an AR-15-style rifle and a handgun, from the scene. Police are investigating the incident.
