Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday made a strong appeal to the public to help identify individuals who damage public property, asserting that such acts should be met with social condemnation and legal consequences. Emphasizing accountability and civic duty, the Chief Minister called on citizens to use smartphones to capture and share incidents of vandalism.

“If someone causes any damage to public property, they should be condemned,” Adityanath said during a public event. “You have a smartphone—make those people who damage government property go viral,” he urged. “We will put their posters up and make the recovery.”

His remarks come amid repeated incidents of vandalism during protests, political unrest, or mob violence in different parts of the state. By invoking technology and community action, Adityanath aims to create a deterrent effect and ensure swift identification of culprits.

“This public property is the property of the nation,” he reminded the audience, framing vandalism not merely as a legal offence but as an attack on national resources and taxpayer money.
