Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday inaugurated Medanta Hospital in Noida, describing the opening as another step in strengthening India’s medical infrastructure and ensuring quality healthcare for all. Addressing the gathering, he reflected on the challenges faced by economically weaker families in the past and said the nation could no longer afford to fall behind in health services while the world continues to advance.
He recalled that eight to ten years ago, serious ailments such as cancer, kidney failure, liver cirrhosis or the need for cardiac bypass surgery placed an unbearable burden on low-income households. “If someone fell seriously ill, especially a poor person, it was almost impossible for them to afford treatment,” he said. Families often had to sell property or mortgage jewellery to meet medical expenses, and appeals for financial assistance were common.
However, Adityanath said the landscape has changed in recent years through policy expansion and technology-driven healthcare reforms. “Over the past 6–8 years, you must have seen that under PM Jan Arogya Yojana, the Ayushman Bharat scheme, free healthcare services up to ₹5 lakh per year are being provided to 50 crore people across the country,” he noted, calling it one of the most significant steps towards universal medical access.
