Lucknow | Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday celebrated the arrival of an international hockey trophy in the state, calling it a proud moment that reflects Uttar Pradesh’s historic contribution to Indian hockey.

Speaking at a ceremony in Lucknow, the Chief Minister noted that 24 international teams are participating in the ongoing tournament, underscoring India’s growing prominence in global sports. “This trophy’s arrival in Uttar Pradesh is also a reminder of the state’s golden history, as it has made an indelible contribution to hockey,” he said.

Yogi Adityanath paid rich tribute to hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, who was born in Uttar Pradesh and led India to three Olympic gold medals. “Under his leadership, the Indian hockey team brought immense pride to the nation,” he remarked, emphasizing that Dhyan Chand’s legacy continues to inspire generations of sportspersons.
