Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday reiterated the state government’s commitment to delivering Yettinahole project water to the drought-prone Kolar region by 2027. Speaking to the media after inspecting key sites associated with the project, Shivakumar said the government is prioritizing the completion of this crucial inter-basin water transfer initiative.
“Our government’s resolve is to deliver Yettinahole water to Kolar by 2027. We have already discussed the issues related to this project with the Forest Department, the land acquisition process, and financial issues related to the construction of a balanced reservoir in Bairagonda, Lakkenahalli,” he said.
The Deputy CM visited the project sites to assess the current status and progress. He also noted that modifications to the project had been made based on inputs from ministers. “There are some technical aspects here. I will study everything and raise this issue in the next cabinet meeting,” he added.
Shivakumar stressed that the Yettinahole project remains a top priority, even if it means delays in other developmental works. “I am not worried even if other projects are delayed; the Chief Minister has directed me to complete the Yettinahole project on priority,” he emphasized.
