Delhi: The water level of the Yamuna River has begun to recede, offering some respite after days of concern over rising levels. However, officials cautioned that the situation continues to pose challenges, particularly for residents of low-lying areas who have been relocated to relief camps.
Authorities confirmed that thousands of people were moved as a precautionary measure, with camps set up to provide temporary shelter, food, and basic amenities. While the immediate threat from rising waters has lessened, attention has now shifted to ensuring health and sanitation in flood-affected zones.
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal said the Delhi government and local agencies are taking steps to prevent potential health hazards. “The Delhi government is constantly working to prevent the spread of any kind of disease, carrying out spraying and other measures to protect people from mosquitoes,” he noted.
