The Western Command of the Indian Army observed World AIDS Day on Monday with a series of awareness activities held at Chandimandir, aimed at highlighting prevention, early diagnosis and social acceptance for those affected by HIV/AIDS. The programme was organised by the Station Health Organisation Chandimandir in collaboration with Command Hospital Chandimandir and the Haryana State AIDS Control Society (HSACS), attracting active participation from officers, families and civilian attendees.

In alignment with this year's theme — Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response — the event included awareness sessions, creative information corners and interactive outreach modules designed to help participants understand modes of transmission, prevention strategies and available support systems. Health experts emphasised the importance of voluntary and early testing, encouraging individuals to seek medical guidance without hesitation or fear of judgement.

Officials involved in the campaign said that one of the central objectives was to reduce stigma, a persistent barrier that prevents people from seeking treatment and counselling. The programme also highlighted advancements in treatment, stressing that timely intervention can significantly improve life expectancy and quality of life for those living with HIV.
