Kolkata: West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose on Sunday reiterated that the Summary Inquiry Report (SIR) process in the state would be conducted in a transparent and impartial manner, seeking to allay concerns raised by political parties ahead of the exercise. His comments come amid debates and objections from several parties questioning the fairness and timing of the process.

Speaking to reporters, Governor Bose described the SIR mechanism as an established and essential step in ensuring free and fair elections across the country. “SIR is a legitimate process for free and fair elections in the country,” he said, acknowledging that while no administrative procedure is without minor issues, the system remains robust and accountable. “Of course, there may be some flaws in the conduct of that. Political parties have the freedom to raise objections to that,” he added.

Reassuring citizens and political stakeholders, he emphasised that the process would be carried out without bias or interference. “SIR will certainly be held in a free and fair manner. There is no need for anybody to be anxious about this,” he said.

Governor Bose further assured that the rights of genuine voters would be fully protected, and strict measures would be taken to prevent any irregularities. “Any genuine voter will be here. No manipulation will be allowed, truth will come out,” he asserted.
