BY A STAFF REPORTER: A notable shift in weather is anticipated in South Bengal by tomorrow, according to the Alipur Weather Office. The serene blue and white sky of the autumn season is expected to be overshadowed by dark clouds once again. The meteorological department reports that a significant change in weather conditions is likely in South Bengal's districts starting Friday, with a new low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal.

This development may lead to weather changes across all districts of South Bengal, particularly in coastal areas. However, rain is expected to be light to moderate on Friday, with minimal chances of heavy rainfall. In contrast, heavy rainfall is forecasted for the hilly regions of North Bengal on Friday, though this intensity is expected to decrease by Saturday.

Malda and the North and South Dinajpur districts are likely to experience light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, on both Friday and Saturday. Rainfall in North Bengal is expected to diminish by the end of the week, while the coastal regions of South Bengal may see increased rainfall.

On Saturday, scattered thunderstorms with rain are expected across South Bengal. In Kolkata and several other districts of South Bengal, the weather will be predominantly sunny, though partial cloudiness may occur. The increase in temperature due to the strong sunshine is likely to result in heightened humidity and discomfort.

In the coastal districts of Digha and East Midnapore, the sky will remain mostly clear today, with local cloud formations potentially leading to isolated thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures in these areas are forecasted to be around 35.8°C, with minimum temperatures at 27.3°C and relative humidity at 80%.

The Alipur Weather Department also noted that a cyclonic circulation has formed along the Andhra Pradesh coast, extending to the central and northern Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to develop into a low-pressure area by Friday, initiating weather changes in South Bengal and increasing rainfall by the weekend. Although the sea conditions are under yellow alert, indicating potential rough seas, there are no advisories against maritime activities. Strong winds and rising sea levels are possible. Despite the expected rainfall, no significant damage to crops is anticipated. The low-pressure system is expected to remain for several days, with the skies gradually clearing as it progresses.
