Nagapattinam: The water level in Kodikkarai, Tamil Nadu, has begun to recede following the impact of a cyclonic storm that swept through the region. The receding water brings temporary relief to the area, which has been grappling with weather disruptions.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the deep depression currently active in the region is expected to intensify further. “The deep depression is very likely to continue to move north-northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm by November 27,” the IMD stated in its latest advisory.

The weather department has issued warnings for fishermen and advised coastal residents to remain vigilant as the system progresses. Strong winds and heavy rainfall are anticipated in parts of Tamil Nadu and neighboring states, potentially causing localized flooding and disruptions.

Authorities have been working to ensure preparedness, with disaster management teams on alert to handle any eventualities arising from the intensified storm. Local residents have been urged to follow safety protocols and stay informed through official updates.

As the region braces for further impact, efforts are underway to mitigate potential damage and safeguard lives and property.
