New Delhi: Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh on Thursday addressed MILMEDICON-2025, an international conference on military trauma organized by the Indian Army, underlining India’s combat experience and medical preparedness in conflict situations.
Speaking at the event, Lt Gen Singh recalled India’s history of major conflicts, noting that since independence, the country has fought four major wars and a limited conflict in Kargil, in addition to nearly four decades of counter-terrorist operations. He said the Army’s experience in active combat has strengthened its operational and medical systems alike.
Citing recent events, he referred to Operation Sindoor as a demonstration of the Army’s capabilities. The operation, he said, was a fitting response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorist attacks in Pahalgam.
On the medical front, the Vice Chief emphasized the role of improved technology, rapid evacuation protocols, and trained combat medics in reducing battlefield fatalities. “Our medics have extensive experience in combat and combat-like situations. Advancements in medical technology and faster evacuation protocols have significantly reduced fatalities on the battlefield,” he stated.
