Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has welcomed the decision to hold the Northern Region Ministers’ Conference on Civil Aviation in Uttarakhand, calling it a significant step towards improving air connectivity in India’s northern and border states. Speaking ahead of the event, Dhami emphasized the importance of expanding aviation infrastructure to serve both strategic and developmental needs.

“We will discuss how to expand air services in the northern regions of the country, how to increase facilities, and how to expand airports,” the Chief Minister said, outlining the agenda of the upcoming conference. The event is expected to bring together key stakeholders from various states to deliberate on regional air connectivity, policy frameworks, and infrastructure development.

Highlighting the strategic relevance of Uttarakhand, Dhami noted, “Uttarakhand being chosen as the host for the conference shows that in a border area like ours, the central government is making serious efforts to increase air services.”

Uttarakhand, which shares international borders with China and Nepal, plays a critical role in India’s border infrastructure and disaster response operations. Improved air services in such regions are crucial for not only economic development and tourism but also national security.
