Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) for the development of ropeways at Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib. The projects are part of the central government’s Parvatmala initiative.

According to Dhami, the agreement will provide Uttarakhand with a significant boost in multiple sectors, including tourism, employment generation, environmental conservation, and infrastructure development. “This agreement will not only give a new identity to the state’s religious and cultural heritage on the global stage but also pave the way for new possibilities in the fields of tourism, employment, environmental conservation, and infrastructure,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that 90 percent of the funds generated from these ropeways will be retained within Uttarakhand and reinvested in tourism, transport, and mobility projects.

Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta and state Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj were present at the signing ceremony held at the state secretariat.
