Dehradun: Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar addressed recent concerns regarding crime and law and order in the state. Over the past few weeks, both media outlets and civil society groups have expressed unease about the state of security. In response, Chief Minister and Home Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken decisive action to address these issues.

Speaking to the press, DGP Kumar revealed that the Chief Minister had personally conveyed his concerns about the situation. "The Chief Minister, who also serves as our Home Minister, expressed his concerns directly to me and provided guidance on how to address the situation," Kumar said.

Following this, significant changes have been implemented within the police department. "With the approval of the Chief Minister, we have made extensive changes in the police department," Kumar stated. These adjustments include transfers of several Superintendents of Police (SPs) across various districts, aimed at improving oversight and operational efficiency.

Additionally, the restructuring includes modifications at the police headquarters level and enhancements in the intelligence branch. "We also restructured the intelligence operations at the headquarters level to strengthen our capacity to manage and respond to security challenges more effectively," Kumar added.

The recent overhaul reflects the state’s commitment to addressing public concerns about safety and ensuring a robust law and order system. The changes are expected to bring a renewed focus and improved response capabilities within the Uttarakhand police force.
