Dehradun, Uttarakhand | In response to a series of recent helicopter accidents in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken a firm stance on aviation safety, issuing strict directives aimed at overhauling helicopter operations in the state.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), CM Dhami has instructed that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) be urgently prepared to regulate all heli services. The SOP will mandate comprehensive technical checks of helicopters prior to every flight, as well as the collection of accurate and updated weather information before take-off.
To execute this plan, the CM has directed the Chief Secretary to constitute a committee comprising technical aviation experts, which will carry out a thorough review of current practices. The expert panel is expected to evaluate all safety protocols, maintenance standards, and operational guidelines before formulating the new SOP.
“The objective is to ensure that the operation of heli services in Uttarakhand is completely safe, transparent, and in line with national and international standards,” the CMO stated.
