Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday marked International Olympic Day by celebrating the unifying power of sports and lauding the achievements of Indian athletes who have brought global glory to the nation.

Speaking at a special event organised in Dehradun to commemorate the occasion, CM Dhami said, “It is a matter of great pride for us that an event has been organised in Dehradun on this International Olympic Day. This reminds us that playing a sport is not just about winning a medal but also signifies the shared values of humanity, unity and peace.”

The Chief Minister went on to highlight India’s growing strength in international sporting arenas, citing examples such as Neeraj Chopra’s historic gold medal in javelin throw, Mirabai Chanu, Lovelina Borgohain, and the achievements of the Indian hockey team.

“Our Indian sportspersons, including those from Uttarakhand, are making the country proud,” Dhami noted, adding that the state government remains committed to promoting sports and supporting athletes through better infrastructure and training facilities.
