The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday announced that the new Deputy US Trade Representative, Ambassador Rick Switzer, will visit India on December 10 and 11. According to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the visit will serve as both a familiarisation tour and an opportunity for Switzer to engage with senior Indian officials.
“This visit is a familiarisation visit, as well as to meet with senior officials in the government of India,” Jaiswal said. He noted that the United States and India remain actively engaged in negotiations aimed at finalising a multi-sectoral financial trade agreement that is fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial.
The visit underscores the ongoing efforts between the two countries to strengthen economic and trade ties across multiple sectors, including technology, manufacturing, and investment. Officials from both sides are expected to discuss areas of cooperation, address trade barriers, and explore opportunities to enhance bilateral commerce.
