Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has set an ambitious target of generating 22,000 MW of solar energy, marking a significant step toward clean energy adoption. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a 1.5 GW solar module manufacturing unit and laid the foundation for a 5 GW integrated solar manufacturing facility in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

The move is part of the state's broader push to enhance solar energy production and contribute to India's commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. "This initiative will not only strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s renewable energy capacity but also create new job opportunities and boost local industries," CM Yogi said during the event.

The newly inaugurated plant will enhance domestic solar panel production, reducing dependence on imports, while the upcoming 5 GW unit is expected to further accelerate India’s green energy transition. The government has also outlined incentives and policies to attract investments in the renewable sector.
