Lucknow: In a significant move acknowledging the contributions of frontline health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has announced that the state government has initiated the process of making more than 2,800 temporary healthcare employees permanent in service.

Speaking to the press, Pathak stated, “The government has issued an order to keep more than 2,800 employees who worked during the time of COVID permanently in service. More than 2,200 people have already been accommodated. For the remaining, a government order was issued yesterday to accommodate them on priority in all our hospitals.”

These healthcare workers, many of whom were hired on contractual or temporary bases during the critical months of the pandemic, played a pivotal role in managing patient care, testing, vaccination, and emergency medical services. The decision to regularize their services comes after months of deliberation and growing demands from the healthcare community.
