Uttar Pradesh: IAS officer Kinjal Singh, Director General of Medical Education, provided insights into the ongoing investigation into the tragic fire at Jhansi Medical College that claimed the lives of 10 newborns. The fire, caused by a short circuit at the children's ward, has prompted a thorough inspection to ensure such incidents do not recur.

“We were instructed to hold inspections considering three primary parameters. One was to determine the main reason for the incident, what precautions can be taken in other medical colleges, and to find out who is responsible for this,” Singh explained.

The inspection team, consisting of three members, has already visited the site and recorded statements from 16-17 individuals. Singh emphasized the importance of accountability and preventative measures.

"Tomorrow, we will hold another site inspection," she added, indicating that further investigations will be conducted to uncover the full extent of the incident.

The tragic event has sparked widespread concern over safety standards in medical facilities, with authorities taking immediate action to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
