Lucknow, June 16: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has hailed the recent large-scale recruitment in the state police force as a “historic achievement,” claiming it reflects the government’s commitment to merit-based, corruption-free employment.
Speaking to the media in Lucknow, Maurya said, “In Uttar Pradesh's history, this is the first time so many youth have got a chance to join the police. For the first time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself distributed appointment letters to the newly recruited candidates.”
He noted that the event marked a shift in public perception, as young people now believe they can secure government jobs on the basis of merit alone. “Earlier, no government job was available without giving some money. That perception has changed,” he added.
Maurya further stated that under the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government, around 8.5 lakh people have been appointed to various government positions in the past eight years, covering sectors including education, health, police, and administration.
