Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh: With Mahakumbh 2025 on the horizon, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled a massive infrastructure and cleanliness initiative to prepare for the arrival of an estimated 400-450 million pilgrims and tourists.

In a high-profile event, the Chief Minister inaugurated development projects worth ₹7,000 crore, while central government contributions accounted for another ₹7,000 crore in projects. These investments aim to enhance urban infrastructure and ensure seamless management during the mega event.

Speaking on the occasion, UP Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma emphasized the scale of preparations. "With 400-450 million pilgrims and tourists expected, maintaining cleanliness is a huge responsibility. As large infrastructure projects progress, a 10-day cleanliness campaign will begin across the city," Sharma said.

The cleanliness drive, launched as part of this initiative, focuses on waste management, sanitation, and environmental sustainability throughout Prayagraj. Authorities are mobilizing significant resources and manpower to ensure the city remains spotless during the festival, which is expected to attract global attention.

The Mahakumbh, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, is not just a spiritual event but also a logistical challenge. The newly launched projects will focus on improving transportation, sanitation, and civic amenities to cater to the influx of visitors.

Officials highlighted the integration of modern technology and traditional practices in these projects to maintain Prayagraj's cultural and environmental integrity.

With less than two years to go, the UP government is working against the clock to meet its ambitious goals and deliver a memorable Mahakumbh experience for millions.
