Jammu — Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday sharply criticized the Congress party for the creation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and attributed the blame to the policies of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
Addressing a public gathering in Jammu, Chouhan questioned, “Why was the PoK formed? Who are the culprits?” before holding Congress accountable for India’s partition and subsequent loss of territory.
“Congress is responsible for India’s partition. Today, Kashmir is occupied by Pakistan because of the policies of Jawaharlal Nehru,” he stated emphatically. The minister added that the Indian forces could have liberated PoK during the 1947-48 conflict if given more time.
Chouhan further accused the leaders “who carry the sin of making PoK” of hypocrisy in their current statements on Kashmir, implying that their historical decisions have had lasting negative consequences.
