By A Staff Reporter — Latur, Maharashtra: Addressing a gathering in Latur, Union Minister Piyush Goyal took aim at the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, accusing its leaders of deceiving the public with false narratives and unfulfilled promises. Goyal emphasized that despite the MVA’s claims, there was only a slim margin of 2 lakh votes between the MVA and the BJP-led alliance in the previous Lok Sabha elections, which he suggested indicates strong support for the BJP in Maharashtra.
Goyal specifically criticized NCP leader Sharad Pawar, who served as Union Minister of Agriculture for a decade, stating that Pawar did little to address the critical issues faced by farmers and the Maratha community during his tenure. "They can mislead people with fake narratives just once. The people of Maharashtra have understood the fake promises," Goyal remarked, asserting that the public would no longer be swayed by empty assurances.
The Union Minister pointed to the various programs and reforms introduced by the BJP government to support Maharashtra’s farmers and address agrarian issues, contrasting these efforts with what he characterized as a lack of action from previous administrations. He underscored the BJP's focus on creating sustainable support systems for farmers and addressing social challenges within the state.
Goyal’s statements come amidst a heightened political climate in Maharashtra, with the parties on both sides attempting to appeal to the rural vote by addressing longstanding concerns over agriculture, social equity, and economic development. The BJP hopes to secure a substantial lead by projecting itself as the party committed to tangible change for Maharashtra’s farmers and Marathas.
