Delhi: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the government’s vision to position India as a global hub of content creation while addressing the 71st National Film Awards ceremony.
The Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a “clear vision” for strengthening India’s cultural and creative industries. Referring to WAVES, a new platform launched recently in Mumbai, Vaishnaw described it as a step toward presenting India’s creative capabilities to the world. “Many eminent personalities were present. One CEO of a multinational company told me he had come expecting a third-world conference but was leaving with a first-world benchmark,” he shared.
According to Vaishnaw, WAVES brought together over 1 lakh participants from more than 100 countries, featuring 140 sessions and 3,000-plus business-to-business meetings. He noted that this shift reflects how global creators are now coming to India rather than Indian creators needing to go abroad.
