Bhubaneswar, Odisha: Speaking at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on Thursday, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje lauded the role of the Indian diaspora in showcasing the country’s growing stature on the global stage. She described the event as an "ice-breaking programme" that fosters closer ties between India and its diaspora.

“The Pravasi Bharatiya Programme is a celebration of the Indian diaspora, who have come from all corners of the world with immense pride due to the development taking place in the country,” Karandlaje said.

The Minister highlighted the government’s concerted efforts to empower the Indian workforce through skilling initiatives. “We are focusing on skilling, upskilling, and reskilling individuals so they can be well-prepared for global job markets. A trained labour force ensures they earn competitive salaries, which not only benefits them but also allows them to support their families back home,” she stated.

Karandlaje emphasized the importance of a skilled workforce in enhancing India’s reputation and economic contributions abroad. “A well-trained worker becomes a proud ambassador of India, representing the country’s progress and values. This is how our diaspora bridges the gap between nations while contributing to our economy,” she added.
