NEW DELHI — In a stern message directed at Pakistan, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday accused Islamabad of perpetually using terrorism as an instrument of state policy and warned of an uncompromising Indian response under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
"Pakistan has been using terror as an instrument of state policy now for as long as I can remember," Puri said while addressing the media in Delhi. Criticizing previous Indian governments, he added, "Governments before Modi Ji would express some anger and then return to normalcy soon after."
Puri refrained from revealing specific government plans, saying, "What the government will be doing is not for us here to speculate," but assured that India today has a "strong, mature government" that will not let such provocations go unanswered.
He also dismissed recent statements from Pakistani officials as "stupid," suggesting they "need to get their mental situation checked." Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, Puri said, "This time there will be no compromise and the government will take strict action... They will be brought down to their knees."
