Puri, Odisha: Union Minister Prahlad Joshi on Saturday highlighted the progress of India’s renewable energy initiatives and praised a new state-led mechanism designed to support households unable to install rooftop solar systems. Speaking at the Global Energy Leaders Summit 2025, the minister said he was pleased to participate in discussions aimed at shaping India’s clean energy future.

Joshi noted that the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme has already provided connectivity to 23 lakh households across the country, marking a major milestone in expanding affordable clean power. However, he acknowledged that many families—particularly economically weaker households—still face hurdles in installing rooftop solar units, even after availing loans.

To address this gap, he welcomed the state government’s introduction of a Utility Led Aggregation (ULA) model. “For those who are still unable to install it on their rooftops even after taking loans, the state government has launched a Utility Led Aggregation model,” he said. “This model will provide significant relief to the poor.”
