Delhi | Congress leader Udit Raj on Sunday came out in support of Rahul Gandhi’s remarks criticising the government over the detention of protesters who were demanding clean air in the national capital. He said the demonstrators were fighting for a collective cause and deserved respect, not repression.
“What Rahul ji says is that all those people who were protesting against pollution at India Gate, the way they were treated with disrespect, forcibly put into buses — they were fighting everyone’s battle, not for their own personal gain,” Udit Raj said.
He stressed that addressing pollution and climate change should be the government’s foremost concern. “Fixing the climate should be the biggest priority,” he added, pointing to worsening air quality levels across Delhi and neighbouring regions.
