Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Maharashtra government over what he called its “complete apathy” toward farmers affected by recent floods across parts of the state.

Expressing concern over the destruction of farmlands and loss of livelihoods, Thackeray questioned the government’s inaction on compensation and loan relief. “How will farmers get loans now? Their lands have been swept away,” he said, addressing reporters in Mumbai.

Recalling measures taken during his tenure as Chief Minister, Thackeray noted, “After I became CM, I waived ₹2 lakh crop insurance. The data and system remain the same even now. Then why is the government not making an announcement?”

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader announced plans to visit Marathwada to meet affected farmers and assess their situation firsthand. “Farmers are demanding soil so that they can start shaping their farms again. They were promised ₹3–3.5 lakh under MNREGA, but I don’t think that has been fulfilled,” he added.
