Khumulwng, Tripura: Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday visited the residence of BJP worker Mita Debbarma following a violent incident in which miscreants allegedly associated with a political party set fire to the local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mandal Office and carried out an attack on her home. The assailants also reportedly looted valuables from the residence, triggering concern among local residents and party workers.
According to initial accounts, the disturbance began when a group of attackers targeted the BJP Mandal Office in Khumulwng, setting the structure ablaze before moving towards Debbarma’s residence. The incident has caused significant tension in the area, with security personnel deployed to prevent further escalation.
CM Saha met Debbarma’s family members to assess their condition and offer support. He assured them of strict action against those responsible and emphasised that political violence would not be tolerated in the state. “The government stands firmly with the victims. Those involved in such acts will face severe consequences,” he reportedly said.
