Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai has made a bold prediction about the 2026 state elections, asserting that the BJP will come to power by unseating the ruling DMK government. Speaking at an event, Annamalai also expressed deep respect for MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, describing him as a senior figure in politics.
“I have so much respect for MDMK General Secretary Vaiko. I can’t criticize him as he is senior to me in politics. I am very small compared to him. May God give him good health and a very long life,” said Annamalai, acknowledging Vaiko's long-standing contribution to Tamil Nadu politics.
The BJP leader went on to declare his party’s intent and confidence ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. “He (Vaiko) will witness in 2026 elections that the DMK government will be taken down, and the BJP will come to power in Tamil Nadu,” Annamalai stated emphatically.
This statement reflects the BJP’s growing aspirations in Tamil Nadu, where the party has been working to expand its influence. Despite being a traditionally Dravidian political stronghold, Annamalai’s leadership has infused renewed energy into the BJP’s state unit.
