Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Sagarika Ghose on Sunday sharply criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on West Bengal made during his victory speech after the NDA’s sweeping win in Bihar. In his address, the Prime Minister suggested that just as the Ganga flows from Bihar to Bengal, political change would also flow into the state—remarks the TMC has described as provocative and territorial.

Reacting strongly, Ghose accused the Prime Minister of reducing Bengal to “a piece of land he wants to conquer and add to his CV.” She said the TMC and the people of Bengal would firmly resist any political attempt by the BJP to destabilise the state’s cultural and social fabric. “We will not tolerate the BJP’s ‘dirty politics’. Bengal will never accept intimidation, division, or attempts to undermine our culture and identity,” she said.
