Kolkata: TMC leader Kunal Ghosh has called for the immediate clearance of the Aparajita Bill by West Bengal’s Governor, stressing its importance for women's safety. The bill, which proposes stringent measures against crimes targeting women, was passed by the state assembly but has not yet received the Governor's assent.
"The Governor should clear the Aparajita Bill urgently because it represents a model law for the protection of women," Ghosh stated. He further accused the Governor of deliberately delaying the bill’s approval, suggesting that the delay could be linked to allegations against the Governor himself.
"If he continues to delay the bill, it raises questions about his intentions and whether he is creating unnecessary disputes over it," Ghosh added. The bill is seen as a critical step in enhancing security for women in the state, and any postponement in its enactment has drawn criticism from the ruling TMC.
